Welcome to FY20 with SWE Houston!
I am excited for the year ahead, our new Executive Committee and Leadership Team have some fantastic ideas to make the coming year a success. We want to focus on you, the members, and work to improve member engagement. We hope to increase returning event attendance by 30% this year. We are going to work hard to build on last year's successes - continuing to bring in outstanding speakers, provide Outreach and Scholarships to students in our community, and bring together SWE members across Houston.
You'll see a few new things this year - we're starting Technical Tours of different facilities around Houston to learn about what companies in our area are doing. This blog is also a new way to help keep you informed about what's going on in SWE and to highlight our members.
By member request, we will be holding quarterly General Meetings to discuss SWE business, Society level information and how you can make the most of your SWE membership (and hope to make these more accessible by live-streaming). Please continue to share your thoughts with us on how we can make SWE Houston not just one of the largest sections but also one of the most active.
I hope you'll join us for our Kick-Off Event on August 24th and our first General Meeting on Tuesday September 3rd. We will also have a New Member Mixer on September 12th. These Free events are all great ways to meet other SWE members and learn more about our section! Check out our website for more details, www.houstonswe.org.
