"Equity is the mechanism to get to equality" Equity is making sure everyone is at the same starting line so we all have an equal chance When looking to move positions, ask, “How diverse is the leadership line?” If the chain of command doesn’t look anything like how you look, they haven’t decoded their own bias yet. Be wary of the “organizational myth” where anyone can start a story, true or not. Not only do you need mentors, but you must have sponsors too. Make sure your name is attached to good things and that people in your organization see your name often. If you help someone out or mentor them, and they thank you behind the scenes, ask instead for them to send a note of thanks and copy their boss or your boss.
