FY22 Dulles High School STEM Outreach Event
SciNOW Club at Dulles High School hosted a Math and Science Night for elementary and middle schoolers to promote an early interest in STEM. Thank you Leteshia and Ruchi for promoting an early interest in STEM by talking to the students and helping with several activities including build a fan, bristle bot and safe landing. The students really enjoyed the bristle bot activity the most and enjoyed understanding how the motor worked.

FY22 Membership Kick Off
We kicked off FY22 at the beautiful Houston Botanic Garden. Participants enjoyed some snacks and mingling with each other and our FY22 executive board. Afterwards, they were free to explore the botanical garden, which features 132 acres of horticultural displays, natural ecosystems, and walking trails! FY21 Fresh Start STEM
On Saturday, April 24, 2021, the Society of Women Engineers Houston Area (SWE-HA) section participated in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Houston Professionals bi-annual Fresh Start STEM event sponsored by HP, as a workshop facilitator. Fresh Start consists of interactive workshops that creatively engage students, ranging from 3rd to 12th grade, to explore the many different disciplines in the field of engineering. The main goal of NSBE Fresh Start is to motivate children to set academic goals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The spring event was held virtually with students participating from as far as the NSBE Africa chapter. SWE-HA volunteer, Leteshia A. Lowe, hosted three workshops with middle school students, 7th-8th grade, on Scratch Programming, where they learned how to animate their names using the visual block based programming tool. The students really enjoyed learning the programming language, learning about engineering and getting to meet students from all over.
Welcome!
